Ljubljana, Slovenia host for EAA’s 15th annual conference
The 15th International Conference on Research in Advertising (ICORIA) 2016 will be held in the European Green Capital 2016 – Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The theme of the conference is “Challenges in an age of (dis)engagement”. We address challenges in research and management pertaining to the media, contents, and audiences in our current era of (dis)engagement. These challenges relate to the evidence pointing to increasing/decreasing interactions between actors in social, cultural, and economic systems.
The ICORIA 2016 is set to take place at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. The conference will begin on Thursday, June 30, 2016 with the 3rd Doctoral Colloquium and a welcome reception, and finish on Saturday, July 2, 2016.
The visitor’s first impression of Ljubljana, Slovenia is that it is an exceptionally young city because its more than 50,000 students lend it a special youthful feeling. Many scientists come to Ljubljana because of its university and institutes with solid international reputations.

Letter from the conference chair
I am excited that this year the ICORIA is coming to the European Green Capital 2016 – Ljubljana, Slovenia. Slovenia, and its capital Ljubljana, is a part of a charming old world Europe, a gem between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, which synthesizes old and new, tradition and innovation, human architecture and unspoiled nature. It is a story to be discovered, a place rich in culture, history, food, scenery and natural wonders.
For more than 20 years the best creative minds of New Europe and beyond have gathered in Slovenia for an international advertising festival Golden Drum where creativity at its best is celebrated. With this tradition in mind, we are delighted to be the hosts of the ICORIA conference on research in advertising.
The early-bird registration fee before May 22, 2016 is €375 which includes a welcome reception, a gala dinner, lunches, refreshments during sessions, a sightseeing tour, conference proceedings, and the €25 annual membership fee of the EAA. (Included in the conference registration fee)
Ljubljana ranks as one of the smaller European capitals, but nevertheless it boasts an exceptionally rich history and tradition, a recognizable style, culture and art, and an atmosphere reminiscent of both Central Europe and the Mediterranean. The city has preserved evidence of a five-thousand-year history, including the remains of the Roman city of Emona, the historical city center with a medieval castle, Baroque façades, creations of Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik, decorative portals and picturesque roofs and bridges over the river Ljubljanica, and the pleasant green embankments – all within the distance of a nice and easy walk.
